Drawing With Stitch

“Drawing a face using a sewing technique- Before this project, I had never sewn before so I am quite proud of what I was able to achieve. It was quite a slow process, especially when creating the satin stitch for the eyebrows. I would have liked to be able to finish the portrait but I am glad to have had the opportunity to learn how to use a sewing machine as well as learning to hand stitch. I hope in the future I will be able to use the skill of embroidery to make my won project.”
3D Printing Workshop

“Learning to Use the 3D Printer: For skills week we had a rundown of how to use the different 3D Printers that we are able to use”.
Macramé For Beginners

“Half Knot to square knot – The first half of my macramé piece is a half knot which eventually becomes a square knot. This was initially quite challenge to get used to, but after a while of knotting it came quite easily. The challenge, however, came when extending my yarn as you can clearly see where the threads join”.
Character Design

This was a really interesting workshop that allowed me to be creative with designing characters, using randomly drawn shapes in order to make imaginative and unique characters that I was later able to bring to life through drawing.
Drawing From Film

Drawing paused scenes from “The spirit of the beehive”. I found this to be an interesting opportunity to improve my ability of drawing from very overwhelming subject matter. It tasked me with finding the most important details to pick out in order to give an idea of what was happening in the scene.
Crochet For Beginners
Learning to crochet was probably one of the hardest things I have ever tried to do. Its definitely something I want to be able to do, however I think I still need to do some proper practice as what I created was a pretty poor attempt.

Punk Graphics

Creating posters from different “punk” printouts and magazines. This was a fun opportunity to chaotic and messy when creating art, roughly cutting up bits of magazine and rearranging them to actually mean something, as well as them being visually appealing.
